Thermal checkers are used for thermite welding of telephone and telegraph wires, as well as cable cores, etc. Thermite checkers are ready-made portions of a thermomixture of a cylindrical shape with an axial hole for a wire and a recess for a fuse from one end of the product. Two ends of the wire are inserted into the central hole, after which the thermite checker is ignited. In order to light a thermite checker, thermite or hunting matches are needed.
