Celestion G12M 25W Greenback 8 Ohm UK 12 inch Guitar speaker
Made in England
Celestion’s production of the G12M Greenback 25W moved back to Ipswich, England. The first of the new English-made arrived in April of 2018. The G12M Greenback 25W were, in previous years, made/assembled in China. If you are looking for English craftsmanship in assembling the same speaker, this is for you.
Really made in UK?
It says “Made in UK” on the unopened manufacturer box. There is a thick manufacturer’s sticker on the side of the speaker’s back cover, which may not be pictured on product photo.

We also have a separate listing for a few remaining G12M Greenback 25W that were made in China.
Angus Young’s choice of guitar speaker
Famously played by Angus Young of AC/DC, Celestion’s specs for the Celestion G12M 25W Greenback 12 inch Guitar speaker boast:
The G12M Greenback has evolved over the decades but still retains its essential, sought- after tone.Angus Young has been a Greenback devotee since the early days of AC/DC. This model is voiced with additional broad mid-range attack and restrained top-end to give a forward, punchy attitude to chords and a searing lead tone without fizz. With its well-controlled low end it can be used singly in low-powered amps, or in multiples for high-power rock heads. It’s an ideal guitar speaker to bring drive and definition to modern high gain amps.

Celestion G12M GREENBACK 25W 75hz 8Ohm
The following is the story behind this speaker, which is among the most classic of the classic rock guitar speakers. I do not sell in Germany, and I cannot link to any site that does, so this author will remain anonymous – but he is not my competitor, so here is the info:
The legendary British Blues & Rock sound of the 60s & 70s.
Way back in the 1960s, Celestion released a version of the popular G12 guitar loudspeaker called the G12M. These days nicknamed the Greenback, with its medium weight magnet this speaker had a tone that was silky smooth and warm, while still retaining the brightness and punch necessary to cut through the rest of the band. The Greenback was also a highly articulate speaker, perfect for the pioneering lead guitarists of the time. A classic had been born.
Over subsequent years, the Greenback has evolved and remains popular with guitarists and amp manufacturers to this day. As the speaker developed, though, its tonal characteristics moved away from those of the original 60s model.
Adhering precisely to the design notes and specifications for the original speaker, re-discovered during our recent factory move, and using exactly the same materials and construction techniques, Celestion has recreated the classic 1960s G12M for a new generation of rock and blues guitarists.

Guitar Tone
Guitar Tone Samples
Our aim is to ensure that the tone of our guitar speakers CAN match the tone expected by the guitar community. Jensen provides guitar tone samples for you to listen to before you purchase. Celestion is also now beginning to provide such guitar tone samples on their website as well. However, Celestion speakers are already famous for their tone. Typically, you begin your hunt for guitar tone samples on any guitar speaker's specifications page (see link above).
Guitar Tone Skills
Any buyer who does not already know this product takes responsibility for: Finding, sampling, and recreating the tone they seek. This vintage guitar speaker is one of many important building blocks of your guitar tone: Including your (1) guitar playing ability, (2) your amp, (3) your guitar etc. This guitar speaker should give you the analog space that you need to let your true guitar tone shine. It will not make you play as well as the guitarists performing the guitar tone samples. Seriously, no bad feedback, returns, or issues in eBay over tone issues.
Electric Guitar Tone
Celestion's website provides information on how to break in a guitar speaker. This should be done before using any guitar speaker. This ensures that the speaker provides true tone and proper function over time.
Talking Shop about Guitar Speaker Tone
Beyond all of these considerations, guitar speaker tone is also by nature a subjective criteria. Therefore we can make no promises in terms of communicating with you about it.
Due to these reasons and the liability constraints coming out of them, we cannot advise you about
guitar speaker tone
before
your purchase. We can only respond to factual inquiries about your purchase.
Sales/Support on eBay
Per eBay's preference, consider all communication related to this sale(s) done here in the eBay system. Therefore, we will consider you to have communicated with us if you have done so from within the eBay system. Please help us keep that communication as clear as possible to eBay staff.
